About us

At JN Infra a.s. we develop innovative solutions in the field of heat and cold supply. We use a renewable source – the river – and heat pump technology.

Our solution is not only ecological, but also efficient and economical. It is based on a holistic view of heat energy supply – from the appropriate source, to an efficient and well-managed distribution network, to the needs of the customer. Our solution is scalable because it can be placed on any river in any city. The heat energy source is located on a floating device that can be manufactured and fitted with the necessary technology very quickly. Our aim is to create new types of heat energy supply by partnering with our customers, but also with suppliers, municipalities and water managers.

We call it ComPon – the community energy pontoon. It can be connected as a source to existing district heating systems or to emerging community heat supply systems, called district heating.

We are building a pilot community system in Smíchov in Prague, where the idea originated, and we call it SeeDis (Smart Efficient Energy District) Smíchov.

Our team includes experts in the design and manufacture of heat pumps, heat exchangers, floating equipment, energy pipelines, and professionals in the energy and heating industry. We connect dozens of external experts in the respective fields, which allows us to enjoy the best results in development and application.

Our goals

Our goal is to manufacture and operate energy floating devices (sources) for heat and cold production – so-called ComPons. In some locations we also plan to build and operate smart, efficient community district heating systems – called SeeDis – that distribute heat and cold from ComPons.

Our customers can be both end users of heat or cold, as well as heating companies (private or operated by the municipality) that own and operate their distribution systems in the locality, to which we will connect our source – ComPon.

Our goal is to contribute to the development of smart modern community heat and cold supply systems (SeeDis) not only in the Czech Republic but all over Europe with the help of ComPons. SeeDis can respond effectively to individual heating and cooling needs and the ability of those involved to contribute further to the system, e.g. with their residual heat.

ComPon

The ComPon is a complex energy floating device producing heat and cold using heat pump technology that harnesses the energy potential of water flow.

Pontoons carry all the technology of water-to-water heat pumps. They are designed to supply thermal energy to urban developments located close to rivers.

Our ambition is not to build ecological sources, but efficient ecological sources and efficient distribution systems that will be primarily cheaper for end users and that will further cultivate the public space of the river banks.

We consider the main advantages of ComPon to be:

  • modularity and scalability (in terms of power, type of refrigerants, output temperatures and deck design)
  • implementation time of 9 to 15 months
  • completion of the public community space
  • 100 % recyclability
  • Plug & Play solution
  • ease of connection to existing thermal energy distribution systems
  • engineering precision and quality controlled, incl. certification
  • significantly lower investment costs (up to 50 % lower construction and installation costs than onshore construction, significantly shorter pipelines due to customer location)
  • significantly lower operating costs (no pumping or filtering of water, smaller space)

Smart Efficient Energy District (SeeDis)

SeeDis is a modern, smart central heating system that uses the heat energy produced by the ComPones that are connected to the system. It will allow remote control and metering of heat energy consumption and distribution as well as the connection of cogeneration sources (e.g. residual heat generated by some connected buildings), so that the customer can also be in the position of a heat producer.

Our pilot project has become SeeDis Smíchov, which aims to create an independent network in the Smíchov area supplying heat and cold to households in historic buildings, local businesses and industrial plants as well as new developments.

Our ambition is to supply heat and cold from ComPons located on the surface of the Vltava River at the banks of Smíchov, to analyse the needs and optimise the supply of heat and cold to all involved participants, under more favourable financial conditions than today.

Switching to this source of heating and cooling will also significantly reduce CO2 emissions from local gas boilers as well as the environmental burden of heat and noise produced by air conditioning units often located in courtyards or on the roofs of historic buildings.

By placing all the technology below the water level, a new community space is created on board the ComPon, designed entirely uniquely for the specific location of the ComPon so that its function and aesthetics do not detract from the surroundings, but rather complement and supplement them.

Our partners

We want to involve as many experts as possible from all over Europe in our project and develop the idea of ComPons not only in Prague or the Czech Republic.

We are really proud to have a number of both smaller and economically important design, technology and manufacturing companies involved in our project, bringing together a number of great experts with one goal – to achieve the most efficient and functional solution by sharing expertise.

We believe that this collaboration can come up with some of the answers to pressing questions in the field of energy and climate change.
